Russian forces attacked Nikopol, Ukraine, today. The attack killed two women and injured six. Oleksandr Hanzha, head of the regional administration, reported the news on Facebook.
The attack occurred in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Russia's Defence Ministry claimed its forces seized five settlements in Zaporizhia region this past week. These include Zakotnoye and Zhovtnevoye, allegedly captured in the last 24 hours. TASS, Russia's state news agency, reported the claims.
Russia admitted to attacking Ukrainian energy infrastructure and military facilities seven times in the past week. One attack was described as a major strike. Ukraine has not yet confirmed the extent of damage.
Fighting continues near Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region. Ukrainian forces used BM-21 Grad rocket systems against Russian troops. The 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces conducted the operation.
The conflict, now on day 1,423, shows no signs of immediate de-escalation. Further attacks are anticipated. International observers are calling for renewed diplomatic efforts.
