Israel voiced strong objections to the US President's selections for the Gaza "Board of Peace." Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened an emergency meeting with advisors. The meeting addressed the composition of the board's lower bodies. The US named members of the Gaza Executive Board Saturday. Those named included Turkey's foreign minister, a Qatari official, Tony Blair, and Jared Kushner.
Netanyahu's office stated the appointments were uncoordinated and contradicted Israeli policy. The Board of Peace is central to Trump's 20-point plan to resolve the Israel-Hamas conflict. It is intended to temporarily administer Gaza and manage reconstruction. The structure of the board remains undefined. Invitations to members are ongoing.
The Gaza Executive Board will oversee the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG). The White House released a statement confirming this structure. The "founding Execu" body is yet to be detailed.
The Board of Peace initiative aims to establish a framework for Gaza's governance post-conflict. Israel's exclusion from the selection process raises concerns about the plan's viability. Discussions are expected to continue between US and Israeli officials.
